What is Lead?
A Lead in ERPNext is an unqualified sales prospect — a person or company that has shown interest but has not yet been confirmed as a potential customer.
Capturing and Managing Leads
Go to CRM → Lead → New. Enter the lead name, source (web form, referral, campaign), company, email, and phone. ERPNext tracks all communications (emails, calls, notes) against the lead and auto-assigns it to a sales person based on territory rules.
Lead to Opportunity Conversion
When a lead shows genuine buying intent, convert it to an Opportunity using the "Convert to Opportunity" button. ERPNext carries over all contact information. The Lead status updates to "Converted", preserving the lead history for pipeline analysis.
