What is Work Order?

A Work Order in ERPNext authorises the production of a specific quantity of a finished item, driving material consumption, job card creation, and finished goods receipt.

Creating a Work Order

Go to Manufacturing → Work Order → New. Select the BOM and quantity to produce. ERPNext calculates required raw materials. Set the planned start/end dates and source/target warehouses. Submit to make material transfers and job cards available.

Work Order Lifecycle

Status flows: Draft → Submitted → In Process → Completed. Material transfer (Raw Material Issue) deducts components. Job Cards track operation time. Finish with a Stock Entry of type "Manufacture" to receive finished goods and close the order.
